If you would've observed, you would know that when you're anxious, you wouldn't want to move around much. It is because some of us unconsciously assume that worrying or thinking about the problem is the solution for the lingering anxiety. Worrying and thinking about it feels safe, it feels comforting and our brain makes it a coping mechanism to overcome anxiety. So sitting idle becomes addictive, thereby resulting in the development of laziness and procratinating tendencies.
There is a famous proverb "An idle mind is the devil's workshop". An idle mind utilizes our creative faculty to create creative problems for ourselves. Many of us today proudly call ourselves overthinkers, this proud label is the consequence of an idle mind. An idle mind inherently means an idle body.
Moving around after prolonged inactivity feels uncomfortable. The discomfort is mainly because it feels insecure to stop worrying or overthinking. After the initial unease, we realize that moving had, indeed, been the solution to our anxiety all along. The mind refreshes as we move, forgetting about all that causes it distress. Letting go of the need to dwell in the complexity is also crucial.
To have a healthy mind, it's essential to have a healthy body and for both to happen, following a healthy lifestyle becomes important.
