Goodwill Hunting is a wonderful movie that came out in the year 1997 and it stars Robin Williams and Matt Damon. This happens to be one of my favourite films because of how much I can connect with it. The protagonist, Will Hunting, is a hidden math genius who has a troubled family history that makes him emotionally distant and develop a care free attitude towards life. An MIT professor recognizes his hidden genius and pursues him thinking that he could put him on a track towards success. However, the boy is uninterested in such pursuits because he needs something which he himself doesn't know or admit. Solving a math problem, that a professor in MIT breaks his head about, is like a cake walk for him. This something that he needs is instinctively understood by Robin Williams who plays the role of his therapist, Sean.
My favourite part of the film is the climax, it touches my heart every single time. Will Hunting feels seen for the first time in his life when his therapist keeps repeating the line "It's not your fault". He repeats to a point where it starts feeling a little weird to the boy as well as the audience watching it but there is so much behind the repetition. He repeats it that many times in order for his words to reach the actual wounded little boy hiding inside him rather than to his social mask. For the first few times Hunting replies politely, then it starts to trigger him that he grabs Sean's collar and then finally he hugs him tight and breaks down, crying aloud. This is such a beautiful scene where a genuine human heals another human.
I am not so sure if I have done justice to the very short summary that I have given so it is best to watch it if you still haven't.
